A QUIET residential street in the city's King's Park has been taken over by detectives investigating the attempted murder of a young man on Wednesday night.
The 23-year-old is now fighting for his life in hospital after he was stabbed in Kingsacre Road at around 8.30pm.
He remains at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medical staff say he is in a critical condition.
On Thursday morning police remained at the scene with a cordon in place between several of the cottage flats in the area.
They were looking for clues as to how the young man came to sustain such horrific injuries and insisted they had a number of lines of enquires to follow as they officially launched an attempted murder investigation.
The stretch of road runs between the Southside area and Rutherglen's Bankhead.
One shocked resident said: "I heard police drive up Bankhead Road at speed last night. There were loads of cars.
"It is normally quiet here, all families and no trouble. I hope the young man is okay."
Detective Inspector Iain Sneddon said: “Officers are carrying out extensive enquiries into this attempted murder to establish the exact circumstances and trace whoever is responsible for this attack. We are following a number of lines of enquiry at this time.
“I would urge anyone who was in the area of Kingsacre Road who witnessed anything suspicious, or who has any information that may assist police enquiries to contact us through 101 with reference number 3155.
"Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
