With Christmas fast approaching and everyone preparing for the festive season, many are looking for fun things to do with the whole family this December.

The Buchanan Galleries is one of the city's largest and most popular shopping destinations and is located in a prime position in the heart of town.

With the holiday season only weeks away, many are looking for a destination that has everything under one roof when buying gifts for loved ones.

2. Skate on ice at Elfingrove

During the city's coldest days, Kelvingrove is transformed into a winter wonderland with the arrival of the UK's largest ice rink.

This event is ideal for families as there is a dedicated toddler rink with the opportunity to skate with Father Christmas himself.

This year will see the introduction of the event's first-ever snow wheel, a 15m wheel for magical views from the sky.

The festive event will run from November 24 to December 24 and boasts Après Skate Bar and Skate Side Dining for a bite to eat.

3. Visit the pantomime 

The pantomime is one of the season's most iconic activities as families across the country flock to their local theatre to see the child-friendly shows.

Family favourites like Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin will show at the King's Theatre on Bath Street and the Pavillion on Renfield Street.

4. Style Mile Christmas Carnival

Signalling the start of the festive season, the Style Mile Carnival starts on November 27 and will see over 600 performers take to the streets in a collage of amazing performances.

With the arrival of the city's sparkling Christmas lights, December is a great time to go on a stroll around Glasgow's many streets and sites.
