MCDONALD'S has shared an update on plans for a new East Kilbride restaurant.

The popular fast food giant is looking to open a new £4 million drive-thru restaurant in Lindsayfield, near Morrisons.

It now wants to show off the proposals, which would include hiring around 120 full-time and part-time staff at the modern, freestanding single-storey building.

It comes after McDonald’s withdrew a previous application last year after being challenged by South Lanarkshire Council.

Now it is holding a drop in event for the public to revise new plans for the restaurant.

This would include addressing the various points raised by the council as it is now in a position to present these plans to the local community.

The updated proposals will be available to the local community at the event on Wednesday, March 29 between 3pm and 7pm at St Vincent de Paul’s Catholic Church.

The entire development space is 371 sqm and will include 97 covers for diners to eat their meals within a relaxed, modern environment.

It will also include 35 car parking spaces which includes three accessible spots and will also feature 14 cycle spaces.

In addition to the drop-in event, a consultation website will be available from March 29, where the public can view exhibition materials and provide feedback.

The opportunity for members of the public to provide feedback will remain open until April 12.

A spokesperson from McDonald’s said: “After careful consideration following the withdrawal of the previous application, we are pleased to be bringing forward revised plans for a new restaurant at Morrisons, Lindsayfield at East Kilbride.

“If approved, the development will deliver significant investment of around £4 million into East Kilbride.

“It would also create over 120 new jobs in a range of full and part-time positions.

“We look forward to meeting the local community which will help gain valuable local knowledge and feedback to help shape and inform the final proposals which we hope to submit as a planning application in the near future.”
