Lewis Capaldi has been forced to postpone the remainder of his European tour as he battles bronchitis.

The Scots singer was just hours away from performing in Barcelona when his voice started "giving in" during sound check.

He was previously forced to move shows in Zurich and Milan after losing his voice during a concert in Stockholm.

He shared the news with fans in a video on his Twitter account, expressing how "gutted" and "sorry" he was to have to bow out.

He said: "I'm f***ing gutted to be making this video and I'm so so sorry to do this but unfortunately I'm going to have to reschedule the remaining shows on my European tour.

"That means Barcelona tonight, Madrid tomorrow, and Stuttgart and Munich next week.

"Unfortunately I got told at the start of this week I had bronchitis after losing my voice onstage in Stockholm.

"And I was sent home to Glasgow, rescheduled the shows in Zurich and Milan.

"I went to another doctor in Glasgow and I got medications and inhalers to try and help with the bronchitis.

"And it has, I do feel a bit better and I thought I was going to be ready for the shows so I've flown out to Barcelona.

"I'm backstage just now, and during soundcheck, my voice was just giving in.

"So unfortunately to prevent further damage I've spoken with a doctor here, I'm going to just have to take a week to let this die down and let it heal properly rather than doing any permanent damage to my voice.

"I'm really sorry about this. I should be able to do this, and I feel like a f***ing d*** for cancelling, especially tonight in Barcelona when it's so close to the show.

"Again, I don't know what else to say to you. I wanted to do a video instead of a wee post so you could know it was coming from me and not someone in management.

"I'm so f***ing sorry and hopefully I will see you all very soon.

"We will get the rescheduled dates sorted as soon as possible."
