A Glasgow shopping centre has welcomed the country's first-ever charity department store.

Charity Super.Mkt has taken over an entire unit at Glasgow Fort after its founders raised more than £620,000 from similar projects in London and Reading.

Shoppers can explore choice charity shop finds, including designer items, with a selection of well-known DJs playing in the store every weekend.

Glasgow Times:

The store received a warm welcome when it launched on Tuesday, and 400 items were sold within three hours which raised more than £4,700.

Seven charities have contributed hand-picked items to the store including Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland, Havens Hospices, Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, Cancer Research, Marie Curie, Shelter and TRAID.

Glasgow Times:

Phil Goodman, Centre Director at Glasgow Fort, said: “We’re really pleased to welcome Charity Super.Mkt to the centre and host its first location in Scotland.

"It’s a brilliant concept which we know will prove popular with our shoppers while also supporting local charities and the environment.”

The store is located between Mamas & Papas and Waterstones and is open from 10am to 7pm on weekdays, 10am to 7pm on Saturdays and 10am to 6pm on Sundays.
