Leicester City appear to have given up on signing Kris Ajer and have targeted Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard.

Former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers was keen on taking Ajer to the Premier League after having worked with the Norwegian during his time at Parkhead.

Vestergaard was a target for the Foxes back in January but a deal could not be struck but it is now thought that Rodgers will attempt to convince Saints to part with their player at the second time of asking.

Ajer, meanwhile, continues to draw interest from around Europe with AC Milan interested in the defender who joined Celtic from Start back in 2016. Ajer's now former agent Tore Pedersen stated that the star would leave Glasgow this summer for pastures new. However, since signing with a new agency, Ajer's future has not been discussed any further.

He is out of contract at the end of next season.
