PETERBOROUGH chairman Darragh MacAnthony is unhappy with Siriki Dembele after the forward handed in a transfer request - claiming that the player's agent was behind the decision.

Dembele is being closely monitored by Celtic and Rangers, as well as a host of English clubs including Newcastle, Nottingham Forest, Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday.

It now looks like Dembele - who is valued at around £2million and can play out wide or up front - will leave the League One club this month after handing in a request in a bid to force through a move.

That led to an outburst from his chairman, with MacAnthony admitting that the development came out of the blue - and warning any potential suitors that his star man will not be sold on the cheap.

MacAnthony told Derbyshire Live: "I woke up to the the transfer request from Siriki today. We received it over the weekend and we weren’t expecting it.

"His agent will be behind this. It’s what they do, but I have no idea why players go along with it.

"Every player in League One is for sale, but only at the right price. Siriki won’t be going anywhere unless we receive an acceptable offer.

"It is what it is. We need to just get on with things and the player just needs to get on with playing."
