Diego Laxalt's permanent transfer fee has been set by AC Milan, according to reports in Italy.

The defender has been on loan at Celtic this season and played 18 games in all competitions for the Hoops. Celts are believed to be interested in making his loan from the San Siro permanent but will have to stump up the cash to sign the Uruguayan.

Now Il Milanista claim the Rossonerri have a £7.2million price tag on Laxalt's head and would be willing to allow the permanent move if a deal can be struck in that region.

Laxalt, 27, is believed to fancy a crack at the English Premier League and it is not yet known whether or not Celts would be willing to pay top dollar for the player who has been challenging Greg Taylor for top spot at left-back.

The player still has a full year to run on his deal with the Serie A side when he returns so Stefano Pioli is likely to want to recoup even some of the money spent on Laxalt, believed to be in the region of £18million from Genoa in 2018.
