Olivier Ntcham reckons he will be an asset to Marseille despite manager Andre Villas-Boas's fury over the club's decision to sign him.

The French outfit loaned Celtic's midfielder without telling their manager - a decision which brought a livid Villas-Boas out in defiance in front of the media where he offered his resignation.

The Portuguese claimed Ntcham was one player he specifically did NOT want to sign, though the club brought him in with a £4.5million future fee.

Ntcham, though, refused to take the issue to heart and claimed the club should be happy to have him in the door due to his Champions League experience and title-winning history.

He said: "Having a player like me who has played a lot in the Champions League or the Europa League, I think that's always an asset.

"I'm going to bring my personality already (in the dressing room), energise it, bring a lot of positivity, I hope we will do great things together. "

Ntcham also the reason behind his decision to join the Liegue 1 giants. He added: "Olympique de Marseille is the biggest club in France, with the greatest fervor and the greatest supporters.

"They have accomplished great things in French and European football too.

It's the first time I've come to Ligue 1, it's a new experience.

"It's a very big championship with very great teams who have had good runs in the Champions League and the Europa League. It's a new challenge for me."
