ANGE POSTECOGLOU has provided a Celtic transfer update with just a week to go until the start of the new competitive season.

The Hoops get their Premiership campaign up and running against Aberdeen a week on Sunday and their squad is shaping up nicely.

But Postecoglou has not ruled out further recruits coming in.

He told Sky Sports: “Ultimately the recruitment is about making us stronger.

“We have to be stronger than last year, we have to improve.

“The league is still our focus, we want to defend our title and to do that we have to be stronger.

“That is where our recruitment has been focussed on. We are trying to fill our gaps from last year.

“We want to make the squad a little bit more robust than it was last year.

“We knew what we needed and part of that process was making players like Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers permanent members of our squad.

“That is not just because we thought they were good last year. We think they are a good investment for us.

“Their best football is still ahead of them, they are still young, so it was important to get them back in.

“We always want to fill in some gaps that I felt we had in the squad last year.

“The areas we got stretched in. We had some significant injuries because we just didn’t have the quality of depth needed.  We have looked to address that this year.

"It is fair to say we will still be active. Whether we get deals done, we will see.

"It has to be the right ones. We expect some comings and goings over the next two or three weeks.

"We will be alert and ready to go if the right solution comes."
