Celtic's Liel Abada has given Leon Brown's mum a signed Hoops shirt in tribute to the tragic schoolboy.

The 14-year-old, from Cumbernauld, was found unresponsive on Thursday, August 25, by his horrified mother Lauryn Keating.

It is believed the youngster "didn't mean to die" and was attempting a social media 'blackout' trend when things went seriously wrong.

The Glasgow Times previously reported how Abada celebrated scoring the first goal at the weekend’s Old Firm match by holding up a t-shirt with a picture of the youngster on it.

Now he has handed over a top covered in Celtic FC signatures with “Leon” written on the back along with the number 14.

The top he held up during the match at Parkhead has now been hung up in the changing room in tribute to the tragic teen.

Lauryn, 30, said: “I received this top from Liel Abada signed by all of Celtic Football Club.

“Abada said he kept the top of Leon that he held up at the game and has put it up in the changing room where it will stay, as he said he was honoured to be able to do all this for my boy.

“Not only an outstanding player but the most genuine and kindest person ever.”

Lauryn is determined to stop this from happening to anyone else, saying “no parent should have to see what I seen”.

She is raising awareness of the dangerous TikTok challenge her son took part in which cost him his life.

The platform is now working to ban the content and instead redirect users to its safety centre instead.

Lauryn previously warned: “I need every teenager and every parent to see this and understand the dangers of these TikTok challenges.

“A challenge is not worth your life, a few likes on social media is not worth your life.

“My son (I’m sure all his friends will agree) was the class clown, he was happy, he was kind, he loved to make everybody laugh but most importantly he didn’t mean to die.

“No parent should have to see what I seen, no parent should be going through what I am all because of some stupid trend.

“Even if this saves one child’s life it’s worth sharing.”

More than £6000 has now been raised for the schoolboy’s funeral which will take place later this week.

A TikTok spokesperson said: "Our deepest sympathies go out to the family for their tragic loss.

“The safety of our community is our priority, and we take any claim about a dangerous challenge very seriously. Content of this nature is prohibited on our platform and would be removed if found."
