A police operation was put in place ahead today's Rangers vs Celtic match.

A large number of cops surrounded Ibrox ahead of the first Old Firm match of the season despite no away fans in attendance.

A number of the officers could be seen positioned around the stadium as they look to be on standby for any trouble.

Supporters around the stadium would also have seen the Mounted Branch unit in several locations, along with police vans situated outside the main entrance.

Mounted Branches horses wore guards to protect their sight from potentially dangerous objects.
