The Stand: Here’s what it’s like being blind in time of coronavirus

IT’S with hindsight, the one sight I do have, I’ve realised how wonderful my life was just five weeks ago. Sitting here typing, confined to barracks as the Government figures out how best to eke out the spread of coronavirus so as to avoid overwhelming the NHS with new and too often fatal cases, I can’t help reminiscing over the six solid weeks of rain we had in Glasgow prior to the lockdown!

The Stand: Losing the Fringe will affect more than just Edinburgh

LAST Thursday, the 2020 Edinburgh Fringe was cancelled. While obviously the correct decision given the current crisis, it still represents a major blow to arts performers of all stripes and to many businesses who rely on the massive influx of tourists during the festival. And while not due to take place for another five months, months of preparation have already been put in by people across many industries.

ALL three Stand comedy clubs closed to the public last Monday. Following the advice of Boris Johnson (note: advice, not a ruling – gotta protect those massive insurance providers, eh Prime Minister?) we didn’t feel it was right to stay open and put people at potential risk.
