It was semi-final week on Bake Off Creme De La Creme and also, apparently, dress up week.
Pulling out all the stops for their showpiece, one team from the London Hilton Park Lane went overboard on their Japanese-themed chocolate dresser with working drawers which contained nougat, an apple pate de fruit and lemongrass truffles.

The threesome, led by “Samurai Sajeela”, dressed in kimonos and bowed as they presented it, to the bemusement of the judges…
Tom and Benoit’s faces say it all (Screengrab/Love Productions/BBC)
…and outright mocking from the fellow teams.
Harsh, guys… (Screengrab/Love Productions/BBC)
Nor did it save them from judgment from the viewers at home.
@BritishBakeOff #GBBOCreme Hilton should've lost points for those awful kimonoes & the faux Japanese display ! pic.twitter.com/xGV9loEFzc

In contrast, people loved the jewellery box design from the Armed Forces team, who recreated a box that Liam’s grandfather had built for his grandma.
LOVE the jewellery box@ Beautiful story and really pretty. #GBBOCreme

And there was also an amazing chocolate ballerina from James’s team.
A chocolate ballerina. Beautiful, graceful and most importantly edible. #GBBOCreme pic.twitter.com/v0xvm8PLwo

But it was Sajeela’s samurai team who scored the highest marks of the heat and earned themselves a well-deserved place in the final.
I actually applauded 👏 sajeela's team on #GBBOCreme – loved the samurai costumes and such nice guys!

so happy for Sajeela's team on #GBBOCreme – they got mad skillz but don't take themselves too seriously!
