Celtic fans were delighted when a question about their club appeared on a popular quiz show.

Viewers tuned into ITV's The Chase on Wednesday night where they spotted a question about the famous side that won the 1967 European Cup, known as the Lisbon Lions.

Contestant Kevin and chaser Shaun Wallace were asked: "Celtic's 1967 European Cup-winning football team was nicknamed the 'Lions' of which city?"

They were given the choice between London, Lisbon and Leningrad and both opted for the middle answer and got it right.

Shaun Wallace, whose nickname on the show is the Dark Destroyer, then went on to explain how the team went from being 1-0 down against Inter Milan to winning thanks to an equaliser from Tommy Gemmell and a late winner from Stevie Chalmers.

Host Bradley Walsh added: "What an extraordinary feat that was."

Celtic fans who were watching the programme took to social media to share their delight at the question being featured.

One wrote: "They love the Celtic on The Chase."

Another said: "The Chase talking about the great Glasgow Celtic."

A third added: "This is brilliant on The Chase! A Celtic FC question on our Lisbon Lions, well done to the contestant Kevin for getting it correct.

"Shaun Wallace great knowledge, impressive!"
