TV soap stars will feature in the cast of the new hit musical Calendar Girls.

After receiving rave reviews at its autumn opening, the UK tour of the reimagined production written by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth is set to arrive in Glasgow next month.

The production team said Calendar Girls The Musical brings together a "stunning cast of music, stage and television stars."

It will run at The King's Theatre from February 13 to 17.

Glasgow Times:

The 2024 cast includes Laurie Brett from EastEnders, Helen Pearson from Hollyoaks, Samantha Seager from Coronation Street, Maureen Nolan known for The Nolans and Blood Brothers, Lyn Paul of The New Seekers and Blood Brothers, and Honeysuckle Weeks from Foyle’s War.

The line-up will be joined by Liz Carney, Colin R Campbell, Andrew Tuton, Jayne Ashley, and Victoria Hay.

Calendar Girls is based on a real-life story that sparked a trend of copycat calendars and led to a record-breaking movie, stage play, and now a musical, which has introduced the term "craughing", described as the act of crying and laughing simultaneously.

The story follows a group of ordinary Yorkshire women who, after the death of a beloved husband, decide to make a nude calendar for charity.

However, neither of them has anticipated the emotional impact this experience will have as they step into the limelight and challenge societal norms.
