The official body of the Commonwealth Games has issued a statement addressing recent online racial abuse received by the ceremony outfit models.
Team Scotland revealed its ceremony outfits for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games this week, with two models wearing the official Team Scotland tartan.
The attire, which will be worn during the opening ceremony on July 23, was unveiled with the majority praising the design from Scottish designer Siobhan Mackenzie.

However, some took to social media and racially targeted the models – Victoria and Adam – questioning their nationality and comparing them to animals. Others peddled far-right theories of white people being "replaced".
Organisers have now released a statement, stating: "Commonwealth Games Scotland condemns in the strongest possible terms the abhorrent online abuse aimed at the models who featured in our ceremonies outfit reveal this week.
"Discrimination has no place in sport or society, and we will continue to stand alongside anyone subjected to such comments. Adam and Victoria have our full and ongoing support.
"This summer, Glasgow will welcome 3000 athletes from 74 nations and territories across the Commonwealth. Glasgow 2026 will be a festival of celebration: the most inclusive, community-driven and connected Games yet. We look forward to celebrating the power of sport, and our inspiring athletes, in the months to come."

The outfit incorporated metallic gold yarn to represent the team’s "ambition and pursuit of success". Gold embroidery on the shirt collar and custom-made kilt pins tie-in the thistle design and metallic gold from the tartan.
Designer Mackenzie – who designed the tartan to take a “bold new direction while staying rooted in tradition” – hit back at critics of the mini-skirt and heels saying: “The athletes choose the design.
“If they’re happy it’s a non-issue.”
