The official opening ceremony of Glasgow's Transport Museum was being carried out in today's trip down memory lane.

The Queen Mother opened the exhibition at the former Coplawhill tram depot in Albert Drive, Pollokshields. It remained the home for the exhibition until it moved to the Kelvin Hall in 1987.

The old building was later converted into the Tramway arts centre.

Now the Kelvin Hall site is closed, with the Transport Museum ready to move next month to its third home at the new Riverside Museum.

Riverside, which will house about 3000 exhibits in 150 displays, is the first major museum built in Glasgow since the Burrell Collection opened in 1983.

It is expected about 800,000 people will visit the museum on the banks of the Clyde in its first year.
