WOMEN'S work is never done - especially in wartime.
These women were doing their bit for the war effort by taking on the jobs of the men fighting overseas when they became joiners at John McDonald Ltd, builders in Burnside.
The three, who were making glass boxes, look quite happy to have joined the ranks of working women, following a tradition that began in the First World War.
Some women went back to being homemakers after both wars but some continued with their jobs, turning them into careers.
What these women decided we don't know.
But while this work might have been new to them when this picture was taken, it is likely the chat was the same as before.
