HERE'S a bunkhouse with a difference.
Back in the 1950s, the old Cathcart Police Station in Glasgow's South Side found a new life as a Youth Hostel.
Where once drunks and criminals were bedded down for the night, young hikers moved into the cells.
To say the facilities were Spartan is putting it mildly. The cells had no heating or en suite loos, but at least we don't think the fee-paying guests - unlike their predecessors - were locked in their rooms overnight.
We're not quite sure what the catering was like either. Hopefully the hungry hikers were offered more than bread and water.
Today's visitors get a better deal, with the Scottish Youth Hostel Association now operating a four-star facility in Park Terrace in the West End of the city.
