Today marks the 48th anniversary of Celtic's achievement in becoming the first British club to win the European Cup.
Less than 24 hours after their 2-1 victory over Inter Milan in Lisbon, the players, management and officials flew back to Abbotsinch Airport and held a victory parade ... on the back of a converted coal lorry.
For Jock Stein, the manager who had transformed the club in such a short space of time as boss, it was a fitting celebration. He had once worked down the mines and maybe that coal lorry was a reminder of his previous work before becoming a professional footballer.
The players showed off the nice big shiny trophy, being the first team to win it because the original cup had been been presented to Real Madrid after their sixth triumph in the competition the previous year.
Parkhead, which had a capacity at that time of more than 75,000, was packed and the fans lapped up the celebrations as the lorry went round the pitch three or four times.
The players would go into the history books as the Lisbon Lions. The night they roared will never be forgotten.
