Before the days of washing machines and tumble dryers in every home, the weekly wash was a social affair at the public baths or ‘steamies’. The Parkhead baths were built in 1905, but as recently as 1986, these ladies were gathering for a stint doing laundry - and the chance of a catch-up.

Glasgow foodies have always been big burger fans and these days there’s no shortage of bars and restaurants offering US cuisine. Back in 1979, one of the pioneers was Harvey’s Bar and Diner in Park Terrace, which offered live music and a speakeasy vibe as well as steaks, burgers and fries.
