Residents at a Glasgow care home have been left with 'smiles like never before' after a special visit yesterday. 

Therapy Ponies Scotland teamed up with Haydale Care Home in Tollcross to bring Flicker, eight and Wilson, twelve, to the East End nursing home.

The ponies spent an hour and a half at the care home, where they went up the lift and into the residents' bedrooms, before visiting the care home's pub, the Haydale Arms.

Resident, Rose McLean said: "I used to put a bet on a Saturday with my granddaughter, but it was much nicer cuddling them."

Betty Dougan, also a resident, added: "What a special treat on my 89th Birthday."

For some, the day even brought back memories. 

Roberta Leadbetter said: "I used to feed horses on my lunch break at my bar, this has brought back memories."

Isabel Cummings and Kirstin Millar, wellbeing coordinators at Haydale, said: "Everyone was still talking about the ponies hours after they had left.

"The home had a buzz about it and smiles like never before." 

Flicker and Wilson already have an impressive track record of visiting care homes and charities across Glasgow and Scotland. 

They have previously visited the likes of Glasgow's Golden Generation Club, Benholm Care Home in Forfar, Strathtay House, and Riverside Care Home in Wick.
