A huge new sports venue getting ready to open its doors to the public will help transform the local area into a national sporting destination, a local councillor has claimed.

Designed to be fun, educational and affordable for the city’s families, Golf It! will be opening at Hogganfield on Saturday, August 5, with bookings now available online from the website.

And ahead of throwing open their doors to the public, the new venue from golf body the R&A will this week host an official launch event.

Golf It! will have a 52-bay double-decker or two-tier flood-lit driving range that has Toptracer technology, and has been split into single and double-player bays and team bays where you can come along with family and friends that can accommodate up to six people each and are designed to be social spaces.

Local councillor Ruiari Kelly says the new facility will create jobs, apprenticeships and allow school children access to the sport.

He said: “The impact of this investment from the R&A in the North East of Glasgow will be transformational for the area, making it a national sporting destination.

“The opportunities provided for people locally are already evident with the creation of jobs and apprenticeships along with the multitude of access programmes for school children to introduce them to the sport.

“Golf was invented in Scotland and Glasgow is where it will be reinvented. I have no doubt that this facility will see a new generation of stars coming through from much more diverse backgrounds ensuring that the home of golf is also the future of the sport.”

The venue will feature three innovative mini-golf courses, a nine-hole golf course for all levels and Park Golf for beginners, with the R&A keen to highlight that there will be so much to see and do at this exciting new venue.

Launching at 1240 Cumbernauld Road, the new attraction will also be the new home for Street food Specialists Big Feed.

Local resident and former councillor for the area, Mandy Morgan, said: “It’s truly exciting to witness the long-awaited launch of the golf course at Hogganfield this week.

“As someone who has been closely involved in its development, I can’t express how thrilled I am to see the project reaching its completion.

“This endeavour will be transformative not only for the local area but also for the surrounding communities and beyond. I wish the R&A every success with this project.”
