ONE OF Glasgow’s most popular days out has an unusual guest of honour this year.
‘Darth Vader’ and his Imperial Scottish garrison (a group which supports charities around the country) will officially open the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust’s Family Day on Sunday, July 30.

More than 130 classic buses, lorries and fire appliances will be on display at the Trust’s Bridgeton Bus Garage home, plus wartime vehicles, veteran cycles and model buses, with entertainment from the Michael Brawley Big Band.
There will be a free vintage bus service to and from the city centre and Kelvingrove, where GVVT has an exhibition.
GVVT trustee Ed Bonner said: “Family Day is an opportunity to share our work with the public and have fun.

"It had a record attendance of 1500 last year, and we hope to welcome even more visitors this time.
“The Force will be with us thanks to Lord Vader who will cut the ribbon to open the event, using his light sabre, of course."
