A major retailer has revealed plans to open a new shop on the city's style mile.

Claire's submitted a planning application to Glasgow City Council for the firm to take over a unit at 46 Sauchiehall Street.

Formerly Warren James Jewellers, the unit is just over 119 square metres.

The accessories giant has asked the council for planning permission to replace the shopfront. They have also requested permission to put up illuminated and vinyl signage.

Claire's has locations in Buchanan Galleries and St Enoch shopping centres.

The American retailer is popular with young adults, selling trendy jewellery, hair accessories, stationary, and beauty products.

Locations are also known for offering free ear piercing.

The last day for comments on plans for the shopfront is Thursday, August 24.

The target date for the decision is Friday, September 8.
