Thereza Bazar will bring ‘big surprises’ and ‘Glasgow affection’ to her city show next month.

The 68-year-old, who began her career in the 70s group Guys ‘n’ Dolls before forming pop sensation Dollar, will play Òran Mór on Tuesday, October 3 as part of her upcoming UK Oh L'Tour.

Glasgow Times:

Speaking to the Glasgow Times about her ‘95% excitement and 5% nerves’ to be on the road again, Thereza said: “I can’t wait to return to Glasgow.

“I fought really hard for Scotland to be on the touring list and at one point, it didn’t look like it was going to happen. Someone then mentioned Oran Mor and that was it.

“Glasgow is such a hub of creativity and creators, and I think that’s amazing.

“Aside from the accent which I would kill for, it’s the energy of Scotland and Glasgow that is just so amazing and uplifting.

“You just want to drink it, it’s palpable, it’s like you can taste it.”

Glasgow Times:

After years away from the city, Thereza ‘can’t wait’ to see how ‘beautiful Glasgow has become’.

She added: “I remember the drive into Glasgow used to be so depressing and horrible.

“For some reason, I just remember driving through the Gorbals. You would drive past it to get into the heart of the city.

“The more you’d do the drive, the easier it would get, and once you had reached the centre it was just amazing, with these just great people.

“I haven’t seen Glasgow in so long and people tell me that it is so different now, it’s this big, beautiful city, and that’s exactly how it should be.”

Glasgow Times:

The upcoming tour, which has been described as a ‘celebration’ of Dollar’s notorious song collection (which earned three top 10 singles and three top albums in the charts), will see Thereza joined by top vocalist Stephen Fox and a live band.

She said: “We had our first big band rehearsal with our sound engineer and everybody on Sunday. They are just fantastic musicians and it sounds really good and tight.

“There is a level of phenomenal musicianship there which I haven’t experienced in decades. It was always my dream to have a big live band behind me.

“With my age in mind, I just thought, I want to so I will, and that’s how this tour has come about.

“The me in the 80s is coming out again, just this time, with a bit more experience.”

When it comes to the live shows, Thereza has made it clear that attendees will not be disappointed.

Making sure that the show is authentic to Dollar’s big hits, Thereza has said fans will hear those key riffs and motifs played throughout the set, with a wee creative spanner thrown into the works too.

The star explained: “Some of the tracks have been completely changed.

“You don’t generally think of Dollar and guitars as one, but there’s a lot of guitars in this show which just sounds fantastic.

“If you have a good song, you should be allowed to change it up, shouldn’t you?”

Glasgow Times:

Fans will also get to hear a re-imagined version of one of Dollar’s ‘biggest hits’ during the show, according to Thereza.

She said: “The song has been done in a modern, cruisy-dance way. It’s got a Dua Lipa vibe to it.

“It’s not very 80s pop in its approach and I love it."
