The Glasgow Times is featuring the six candidates hoping to be voted Glasgow's Favourite Business for 2023.
The award, sponsored by this paper, is part of the Glasgow Business Awards organised by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce with Royal Bank of Scotland as the main sponsor.
The National Piping Centre sits on the cusp of the city centre, occupying the Old Cowcaddens Church which dates back to 1872.
But inside the building, those curious about their Scottish roots can discover over 300 years of piping heritage.
Finlay MacDonald, director of piping at the centre, told the Glasgow Times: "Piping is a huge part of our cultural heritage.
"We have a long history of piping, and throughout piping, you can actually trace Scottish history very clearly going back hundreds of years - back to the clan system."
While the Piping Centre serves as an international destination for musical excellence, the team behind the scenes are keen to welcome everyone from Glasgow through its doors.
Mr MacDonald said: "It's important for us that we are a hub of the community, not just for people coming in to get a lesson.
"Of course, that's at the core of what we do, but the whole way we are set up is to support the charitable work that we do throughout the year and on a daily basis.
"We cater for all levels, all abilities, and everyone is welcome.
"We're not just an educational establishment, we're also a cultural hub with a shop, restaurant, cafe, museum, and event space."
The Piping Centre is also behind Glasgow's International Piping Festival, Piping Live!, which brings together musicians from across the world.
Mr MacDonald, who also acts as artistic director of the festival said: "At the festival, on the same evening we have the world's biggest solo invitational competition happening, we also have a night of experimental contemporary music at Nice N Sleazy."
The centre has been a roaring success at championing Scottish bagpipes which has landed the Piping Centre a nomination for Glasgow's Favourite Business.
Mr MacDonald said: "We are delighted and honoured to be nominated.
"We are humbled by it and feel that it is a lovely piece of recognition for us.
"The whole team across the board work tirelessly throughout the year and to receive that kind of nomination makes us really proud."
The winner of The Glasgow Times Award for Glasgow's Favourite Business will be revealed at the annual Glasgow Business Awards ceremony, taking place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central on Thursday 5 October 2023. Voting closes at midnight on September 18, 2023.
