Iconic crime drama Taggart has celebrated 40 years since its launch.

The legendary show was one of the world’s longest running crime dramas and to mark the major milestone had a touching reunion.

It saw key cast, talent, and the creator of the global hit come together in Glasgow last night [Tuesday, September 20] to celebrate the show’s success.

Actors Blythe Duff, James MacPherson, Colin McCredie and John Michie were joined by creator and writer Glenn Chandler and ex-Head of STV Drama, Robert Love - with Alex Norton joining by the power of Zoom - for a lively panel discussion hosted by STV presenter Laura Boyd.

The special event took place in Glasgow – which is often described as the main character of the show – at the CCA on Sauchiehall Street, with the panel sharing memories and tales from what has become an iconic crime series.

Made by STV Studios, the show was on air for 27 years, including 27 series in total and 110 episodes.

Iconic characters, clever whodunnits, grisly murders, witty dialogue and an incredible city as the setting for all the action, Taggart is still loved by fans right across the world, selling to 140 territories and counting.

The series was also a training ground for production crew and writers, and saw many famous faces make early screen appearances, including Barbara Dickson, Dougray Scott, Jason Isaacs, Natalie Robb, Lorraine McIntosh, Alan Cumming, Sheila Grier and Mark Bonnar.
