A Glasgow bar is paying tribute to Shania Twain by offering free bull rides to punters.

Maggie’s Rock ‘N’ Rodeo, formerly known as Maggie May’s, is welcoming the superstar back to the city with a party in her honour.

We previously reported that the pub has rebranded to become an authentic Western saloon inspired by the bars of Nashville.

Now that the half-million transformation is nearly complete, the bar is inviting customers to ride their mechanical bull for free at their Shania Twain honkytonk this weekend.

All customers have to do is prove they ticket holders after heading to the Hydro for the shows on Friday, September 22, and Saturday September 23.

Nicola Wilkinson, operations director at Maggie’s Rock ‘n’ Rodeo, said: “Work on the refurb is nearly complete - we’re in soft launch phase right now as the final touches are put in place and we couldn’t miss the chance to have a big honky tonk party to celebrate Shania being in town!

“We’ll be blasting all her hits with special Shania themed cocktails, live music and a free ride for Shania ticketholders to help us break in our new Bull. We’re open til 3am with the unofficial Shania afterparty so get the cowboy boots and hats ready for a wild one.”

We previously reported that the bar's basement space will be known as The Hoedown, hosting a series of themed 'Honky Tonks' each week.

There will also be a new Americana inspired menu loaded with buffalo wings, burgers, brisket and pizza slices.

Loyal customers can still expect live bands every night, live sport on screen, and late night hours till 3am.

Owner Oli Norman said: “We’re taking Maggie’s to the next level and making it the ultimate feel-good place for big groups, stags, hens and anyone wanting to party.

“Maggie’s is an institution and is and will always be the home of live music and sport. We’re staying true to those roots but adding a country twist.

“We’ve all ended up three sheets to the wind in Maggie’s at some point – now we’re going to do it with our cowboy hats on.”

The bar can cater up to 200 cowboys and cowgirls in The Hoedown, or hire the Bullpit for groups of up to 40.
