Glaswegians tend to love their meat, but this week we're focusing in on the greener side of the plate. No, we're not talking a Glasgow salad... we're looking at all things vegetable-based. Yelp Glasgow has scoured its reviews to bring you 10 places to taste meat-free meals.

Babu Bombay Street Kitchen, 186 West Regent Street, Glasgow G2 4RU

With lots of choice for vegetarians or vegans, this new street kitchen serves breakfast and lunch, as well as 'tiffin packs to take home and eat later'. With a menu that changes daily, you might be lucky enough to try the 'pau bhaji' made from 'cauliflower, peas, green pepper and potato.'

Cherry & Heather, 7 North Gower Street, Glasgow G51 1PW

According to one Yelper: 'If you're a vegetarian then you will be spoilt for choice with fillings like brie, spinach with caramilised onions or oven roasted beetroot, lavender and honey goats cheese pate, sprinkled with omega mixed seeds.' This south side takeaway has limited seating, but all food is made fresh and super fast.

The 78, 10-14 Kelvinhaugh Street, Glasgow G3 8NU

Presenting an 'upmarket and adventurous menu', this Finnieston bar dishes up a daily pot of stew or curry for a fiver. You'll find vegan treats like butterbean, lime and za'tar hummus, Cajun fried seitan goujons and lime and coconut cake to finish.

Saramago Café at the CCA, 350 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow G2 3JD

With small plates, sandwiches, salads and biggerdishes, you can graze to your heart's content. The space is worth the visit alone - in day time it is filled with daylight from the massive skylight above. Tagine, roast vegetable calzone and Thai noodles are some of the menu highlights.

Café Phoenix, 262 Woodlands Road, Glasgow G3 6NE

Yelpers love this café offering'lentil, carrot and lime soup as well as other vegan picks of the day. With books adorning the wall and comfy couches upstairs, you'll want to spend hours here. The real star here though (apart from the warm welcome) is the vegan brownie.

Mother India's Café, 1355 Argyle Street, Glasgow G3 8AD

There are vegetarian options galore in this infamous restaurant, ranging from chana daal to saag paneer and aubergine fritters. No reservations mean you might have to wait for a table, or you can always just pop next door to Dining In with Mother India.

Stereo, 20 Renfield Lane, Glasgow G2 6PH

The delicious tapas and larger dishes led one Yelper to say: 'I didn't think vegan food could be this tasty!' The haggis dishes are highly recommended, served with spicy harissa ketchup. Be sure to visit on a Monday for their five tapas for £12 deal.

The Flying Duck, 142 Renfield Street, Glasgow G2 3AU

Vegan bratwurst, tacos and veggie burgers are a few of the items available at the Duck to dine on. With food being served into the wee hours (plus complimentary toast on the bar on some evenings) you won't need to stop off for post-pub munchies after dancing here.

Mono, 12 Kings Court, Glasgow G1 5RB

'For a light healthy bite to eat you can't go wrong with a soup and sandwich here,' says a Yelp reviewer. Porcini risotto, nachos and refried bean burrito all go to show that Mono does 'nourishing vegan comfort food that all adds up to noms that are good for the soul'

13th Note, 50-60 Kings Court, Glasgow G1 5QT

Serving a veritable array of delights from hummus to lentil dahl, as well as aubergine and halloumi kebab, vegetable moussaka and sweet potato fritters, even a meat lover would be happy here. Also serving veggie and falafel burgers, this is a great place to eat and then see a gig to top off your night.
