THERE are two sides to the theory about how audience contribution helps to a great show.

I mean, an up-for-it crowd surely helps things along - if everyone around you is having fun, that means you're more likely to have fun.

On the other hand, the DJ/artist turns up, plays their set and it's the same noise that comes out the speakers whether anyone dances or not.

This interactive night at Sleazy's on Sunday takes the whole concept and flips it around - at Interactek 0.5, the audience are in charge of creating the music via a specially-designed interactive system. Even those without any musical knowledge will be able to contribute to the "techno-ish" tunes, taking the DJ out of the equation and opening the doors to a strange new world which sounds intriguing, exciting and a potential nightmare all at once.

If you'd rather just hear something interesting without the pressure of making it, Steev and Simon from Errors are on at the CCA tomorrow playing oddities harvested from the blogosphere and beyond, then on Saturday Chad Palestine and Mogwai's Stuart Braithwaite rip it up with some of their favourite records.

l Infinity Pool, Saturday, CCA, 9pm-late, free

Hey Judes

QUITE the weekend in store for Saint Judes, kicking off tonight with UK drum and bass duo Sigma's first show in Glasgow.

Their classic jungle-influenced track Rudeboy smashed it last year, and their remix of Rusko's Somebody to Love is picking up plays left, right and centre just now.

Tomorrow the club welcomes Detroit electro-bass DJ Stingray, Saturday has Amsterdam techno man Jean Pierre Enfant, and on Wednesday old-school house duo Him_self_Her headline at student night Shangri-La.

l XY Glasgow with Sigma, tonight, Saint Judes, 11pm -3am, £7

l Shangri-La with Him_self_Her, Wednesday, Saint Judes, 11pm-3am, £5

Take the floors

THE first End of Term party at the new Art School building takes place tonight, and it boasts a typically diverse range of acts which have been split across three floors - catering to the mind, body and soul.

The mind gets the Assembly Hall and Hessle Audio's Joe as well as Vitamins boys Shaun, Sam and Tanner.

The Vic Bar is responsible for the body and features local producer Dam Mantle and Rich McMaster of experimental analogue duo Silk Cut. The soul gets the Gallery Room, R&B duo RIDE and the exquisitely-named DJ Milktray.

There's also a "Bucky Lift" - which, if it turns out to be what I'm imagining, should be pretty entertaining too.

l Pleasure Garden End of Term Party, tonight, The Art School, 10pm-3am, £2/£4

Future stars

THE fifth Scottish Alternative Music Awards, taking place tomorrow night at The Garage, aren't about celebrating the bands that have achieved the most records sales or the biggest commercial success.

The awards will go to bands who tour on tiny budgets but offer more in creative terms, highlighting Scotland's diverse cultural spread.

You can party with the future indie stars of The LaFontaines, Model Aeroplanes and Bear Arms at the official aftershow at Bloc after the awards.
