A sale of part of Sir Alex Ferguson's wine collection has raised only a bit more than Manchester United star Wayne Rooney's weekly wage.
The 140 lots from the The Sir Alex Ferguson CBE Collection made £398,818 at a fine wine auction in London.
It included a magnum of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti 2002 Burgundy which alone fetched £16,450.
Rooney could raise that figure in less than seven working days after he signed a £300,000-per-week deal with United in February.
It was the second of three auctions of wine from Sir Alex's collection.
