STREETrave

Right now, Glasgow is a city tingling with excitement at the prospect of the weekend ahead.

The August bank holiday is always one of the clubbing calendar’s most hotly-anticipated milestones - it marks the beginning of the end of summer, a fact that much of the city will be on an all-out mission to forget.

Safe to say that at Sunday’s all-day STREETparty, the punters’ minds will not be on the changing of the seasons.

Acid house veterans 808 State (not Bob State, as Gary Davies famously goofed on Top of the Pops in 1990) headline, with house legend Todd Terry backing them up.

Early ‘90s rave pioneers Shades of Rhythm and Danny Rampling complete the nostalgia trip, while the Love Action and Groove City Radio stages feature the likes of Italian producer Pripura, Malaga’s Cuartero, and local house DJs in Raeside and Vilmos.

Before that, London DJ and beatboxer Beardyman brings his Distractions album tour to SWG3 at the afterparty for sneaker festival Sole Bloc.

Don’t expect dancing - you’ll get your box-fresh Stan Smith's manky - but prepare for plenty of shuffling and chopped-up hip-hop sounds.

• STREETrave STREETparty, Sunday, SWG3, 2pm - 1am, £30

• Sole Bloc Afterparty, Saturday, SWG3, 9pm - 2am, £10

DJ Tennis

It’s full steam ahead for the Sub Club’s Sensu crew tomorrow, as their annual boat party sets sail with DJ Tennis at the helm.

The head of Life and Death records will be serving up an ace-packed set of house bangers on the trip down the Clyde and back, before taking charge at the afterparty back at the Sub Club too.

Residents Barry Price and Junior are the ball boys, spinning house and techno in support.

• Sensu Boat Party with DJ Tennis, tomorrow, Glasgow Science Centre/Sub Club, 7pm - 3am, £26

Day and Night Terrace Party

The lineup curated by Don’t Drop for this all-day outdoor party down in Partick makes it one of the best options of the weekend for fanciers of Balearic-style house vibes.

Leeds’ Miguel Campbell leads the line with SEFF in support, but the local talent on throughout the day also excites.

Denis Sulta and McEwan & Torrance warm up in the afternoon, but it’s the hotly-tipped Barrientos, all sun-bleached beats and lusty Latin influence, who’ll really get the pulse racing.

Some weird entry requirements mean that if you turn up between 7pm and 11pm you won’t get in, so don’t do that and get in there early.

• Day and Night Terrace Party, Saturday and Sunday, The Sanctuary, 4pm - 3am, £10

Platform 18

Platform 18’s raucous street parties are some of the best, most unique events of the year - but you need to be quicker than Chris Froome to get your hands on a ticket.

Taking place under a rusting railway bridge in post-industrial Tradeston, this second party of the summer has Daze Maxim and his fellow German Georgia Girl plying their slick take on house and techno.

Residents Ivan Kutz and Niz get things moving early on.

• Platform 18, Saturday, West Street, 5pm - 10pm, £15

Free All Day Party

Even the skint and the terminally thrifty have some great options for partying over the next few days. Tomorrow, Finnieston hipster hangout The 78 has a free all-day party, with an eclectic DJ lineup including Fortywinks, DJ Sonny and Intergalactic Funk Smugglers.

The after party is at the Art School, with ‘90s Hip-Hop providing the tunes.

At the Berkeley Suite, Chicago house producer Tevo Howard is joined by residents from Bigfoot’s and London’s Kristina Records - this is one of the picks of the weekend, and it’s free before 12am.

Don’t be silly and queue up if you have to.

On Sunday, Sub Club residents Vicious Creatures are dropping distinctly brilliant beats at the Hillhead Book Club in the evening.

And down at the other end of Byres Road, a trio of DJs led by nihilist and breakcore fanatic Christopher Anderson indulge themselves with Death Goes to the Winner at the Record Factory.

Expect first-rate tunes you can dance to, with only the occasional Venetian Snares deep cut.

• Free All Day Party, tomorrow, The 78, 2pm - noon, free

• Tevo Howard, tomorrow, The Berkeley Suite, 11pm - 3am, free before midnight

• Vicious Creatures, Sunday, Hillhead Book Club, 9pm - late, free

• Death Goes to the Winner, Sunday, The Record Factory, 9pm - 2am, free
