TOOTS squealed a cry of delight while watching her favourite cookery show - Saturday kitchen.

Now Toots doesn't watch the show to advance her culinary skills - it's merely to swoon at the soon to depart host James Martin.

Scots celebrity chef Tony Singh popped up on the screen for his tour around India, but turns out he can also be found closer to home.

"Tec I read about him recently that's Tony Singh. He's opened in Glasgow, and he's on TV - we need to go," demanded her ladyship.

I was to magic up a table at the recently opened Tasty, based at Alea casino at The Quay.

As luck would have it there was a cancellation when I called so I took it to keep Toots sweet.

Saturday night fever was upon us. I was in my best Farah trousers while the Moll swept down the staircase at Times Towers in her finest leopard print dress.

We revved up the Buick and headed to the Las Vegas of the north - well Aleo Casino.

There was a few early Roulette players in, I would try my hand at that later.

We came across Tasty and were welcomed by friendly host and quickly shown to a cosy corner table.

It was perfect for Toots she had a view of the whole restaurant from there, while as usual I was left staring at the wall.

It has not long opened its doors, but clearly word had got round as the place was jumping.

Our happy server went through the menu with us, which was just as well as it was a bit much for the old grey matter.

It was based on a street food idea and you could order as much or as little as you wanted. Any combination was the order of the day.

You name it was on the menu. It seemed to be a fusion of cuisines and cultures and my tummy was rumbling at the sound of it all.

We were advised to order up a couple of sharing plates each. Sharing is never great when you with Toots she seems to her share and mine.

I ordered a cool beer as this dining experience looked like thirsty work.

I left Toots to order as I knew I would make a meal of it and get something wrong.

We opted for haggis pakora, steamed buns and pickles, Gaúcho diamond cut steak and chimmi churri, a single battered fish with fries on the side.

I had no idea how this flavour combo was going to work, but the small plates coming out for other diners looked delicious.

All dishes comes out when they are ready, so we didn't know what was going to come out first.

Low and behold the prize dish of the night a single fish with pickled onions on its own silver serving dish.

Tasty was certainly the way to describe. Fresh white fish and a crispy batter went down a treat. It did seem odd eating a fish supper in a plush setting, but clearer here anything goes.

Toots was straight in for the kill with the pickled onions - I wouldn't be going in for a smooch on the way home this time.

The steamed buns were a sensation. Silky smooth texture in the mouth along with pickled veg, this new culinary experience was going down well.

We tucked into the haggis pakora and fought it out for the slices of steak and chimmu churri sauce. The steak was divine and I was wishing we had ordered up two portions.

One of the main attractions of Tony Singh's joint is the sweetie corner.

He has picked up on the nostalgia sweet shop and transformed some of our old favourites into desserts. There's a vast choice from Tony's Tuck shop or the traditional ice cream.

We opted for ice cream which came with a little pot of sweeties on the side - a really nice touch.

Toots and I really were like kids in a sweetie shop and with the last few mouthfuls of pistachio ice cream were polished off.

Tasty is certainly a welcome addition to the city dining scene. We'll be back.
