Finding a perfect date outfit can be tricky at the best of times and maybe even more so around this time of year when love is in the air and the promise of a romantic rendez-vous is too.

Last week, I was lucky enough to be invited to experience Argyle Street Topshop’s personal shopping service and it provided me with the perfect place to plan some date-inspired looks.

The first look I put together was a shout out to all my single girls who will be celebrating ‘Galentines’ this year. Topshop are currently top of the shops when it comes to accessories and delicate strapped red heels paired with ripped denim shorts and an oversized red ‘J’adore’ tee made a funky and fabulous combination for a night on the town with your girlfriends.

Now, nothing says dinner date glamour like a satin slip dress and Topshop is absolutely full of them in a range of different colours and patterns. Obviously I opted for the pink - to make the boys wink, right? Seriously though, this colour will be sure to make a sexy statement and pairing it with a red bag and heels just screams ‘be my Valentine’.

A shorter black slip dress with a delicate leopard print through the fabric looked just as sassy but a little more subtle and was brought to life with a stunning snakeskin shoulder bag and matching strappy heels.

If a more casual date night is on the cards opting for a blouse gives you plenty of options.

I was drawn to a crisp white number with delicate buttons down the front and a tie-back waist which I paired with light-blue skinny jeans and red accessories - oh and don’t forget to add a rouge lip.

While this look could also be perfect for a daytime date setting such as brunch or afternoon tea, matching the same white blouse with a dusky pink striped satin midi skirt and white ankle boots added a fun and flirty element to the chic shirt.

Glasgow Times: Blouse £31.20, skirt £29, shoes £39, bag £25, earrings £14.50.

The final look was movie night inspired and an edgy yet pretty combo featuring a gold satin midi skirt, white slogan tee and black chunky boots- adding some heels could also give this look a more glamorous feel for dinner dates or cocktails.

More details about my experience with Topshop’s personal shopping service will be featured in next week’s column.

Until then, stay stylish Glasgow
