A man was rescued today from an early-morning fire in his Glasgow home.
The blaze broke out on the ground floor of a flat in Lawrence Street in the West End.
Firefighters managed to pull the man to safety, and he was rushed to the city's Western Infirmary suffering from severe smoke inhalation.
Police and fire crews are probing the cause of the blaze.
Meanwhile, a woman has died following a fire at her home in Wishaw.
Emergency services were called to the house in Broompark Road around 7am.
Crews quickly brought the blaze under control, but the body of a 51-year-old woman was discovered in the house.
There would not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding Saturday's fire.
