MOTHERWELL striker Scott McDonald has revealed he is desperate to get back to Hampden to atone for previous cup heartache.
The Steelmen lost heavily to Rangers in the 2005 CIS Cup Final before conceding a late goal in a 2-1 defeat by Celtic the following year in a semi-final they dominated.
Maurice Malpas's men have the National Stadium in their sights once more with First Division St Johnstone standing in their way in tomorrow night's Tennent's Scottish Cup quarter-final.
And McDonald said: "The disappointment we had in the cup final a few years back is something I know a lot of boys - including myself - would love to get back to and change, because it wasn't a nice feeling getting a 5-1 drubbing.
"It would be lovely to go back there once again and maybe win a game at Hampden for a change.
"St Johnstone will be a tough team to break down. Owen Coyle will certainly know all about us."
Meanwhile, Steven McGarry has signed a two-year extension to his contract at Motherwell that keeps him at Fir Park until 2009.
