CENTENARIAN Jairam Chadha has 100 more reasons to celebrate this week.
The hardy pensioner celebrated his 100th birthday on Tuesday and revealed the secret of his long life - a daily tipple of Irn-Bru.
And now he won't be going short of his favourite soft drink after Irn-Bru maker Barr gifted the centenarian 100 cans of its fizzy treat.
Jairam showed he's keen to stay in good shape by putting in a special request for diet Irn-Bru.
The former Glasgow shop owner enjoyed a massive party organised by the Hindu community in Cardonald to celebrate his special birthday, which the Evening Times was first to report on.
Around 400 family, friends and well-wishers - including Lord Provost Liz Cameron - gathered to toast his good health.
His daughter Kailash Malhorta, 56, said: "It was a wonderful day and it's nice that Barr has done this for him.
"We think he should become the face of the next Irn-Bru advert or perhaps his face could be on the bottles. He's a good advert for it!"
A Barr spokesman said: "We're delighted Jairam has always enjoyed a daily drink of Irn-Bru. Everyone at Barr wishes him a happy birthday."
Mr Chadha was born in Lyalpur in Punjab, Pakistan, and spent 26 years in Kenya working in the shipping industry before emigrating to Scotland in 1965.
He opened a shop in Chancellor Street, Partick, raising five sons and three daughters, and worked there until he retired in 1976.
