THE torso of a man which has been found in a ditch is from a murder victim whose remains have been scattered across the English countryside.
Hertfordshire Police said a post-mortem examination took place on the body part and it was linked to the murder investigation.
The torso was found on Saturday in Gore Lane in Standon, in the east of the county. Police had a call from a member of the public.
A police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that it is the torso of a man, and that it is linked to the ongoing joint murder investigation taking place...following the discovery of body parts in Hertfordshire and Leicestershire."
The inquiry was sparked when a leg was found by the A507 in Cottered, Hertfordshire. An arm was discovered in Wheathampstead and two days later a head found in Asfordby.
