THIS time last season Dave McKay was preparing for a new adventure after swapping amateur teams during the summer.

Now though, he is in the process of completing his first pre-season as a full-time football with Clyde And he can't wait for the new campaign to kick-off as he attempts to help try to enjoy a successful season in the First Division.

The young striker spend the second half of last term at Broadwood after manager John Brown snapped him up from amateur side Drumchapel United.

Now McKay admits things have turned around at a rapid rate.

He smiled: "Last year I had just signed for Drumchapel United and was looking forward to hopefully helping them build on their successes of the previous few years, and I've got to say it was a really enjoyable time there.

"I still keep in touch with a number of the lads there, as all my previous teams and they were all really pleased for me when I was signed by Clyde. But this will be my first full season here and I really want to make the most of it. I suppose players never look forward to pre-season training, but when it's your first opportunity to train every day and really get your fitness levels up to new levels, then you really want to get the head down and make it count.

"So that's what I've been doing over the last few weeks."

McKay netted Clyde's second goal in a 2-1 victory over King's Lynn after former Queen's Park skipper Stuart Kettlewell opened their account. And McKay aims to remain on the goal trail this term. He added: "Like every striker I love scoring.

"I've worked on other aspects of my game since signing for Clyde but I've always been someone who has got their fair share of goals and hopefully I can do that this season and help Clyde."
