A KILLER is still at large almost exactly a year after a man was murdered in a Glasgow park.
Today detectives investigating the murder have made a renewed appeal for help in catching the culprit.
Officers are still hunting the killer of John Devine whose body was found in bushes in Cowlairs Park, near Keppochhill Road, Springburn on July 16, 2007.
The 45-year-old was last seen alive in Keppochhill Road near Pinkston Road between 10.30pm and 10.45pm on July 10.
Police believe he may have been murdered later that evening and that his body lay in the park for a number of days before being discovered.
John was always with his dog Chico a Staffordshire bull terrier cross.
Officers believe his pet stayed with his body in the park for three or four days before returning home and being taken in by a neighbour.
Over the past year around 1000 statements have been taken by police investigating the death but so far there have been no arrests.
Detective Inspector John Kennedy, who is leading the investigation, said: "I have no doubt that there are people out there who have information about this murder and, for whatever reason, have stayed silent.
"I would ask people to consider the impact this has had on John's family, knowing that his killer is still free.
"I want to send out a strong message that this case will remain open until those responsible are brought to justice."
Anyone with information should call 0141 532 4191 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
