DADO PRSO today admitted saying goodbye to Rangers at the end of this season will leave him heart-broken.

The big Croatian striker was left humbled last night at the club's annual awards dinner when he was presented with the John Greig Award for services to Rangers.

The former Monaco man was also thrilled as his close friend, Brahim Hemdani, won Player of the Year after an excellent season.

Prso, 32, announced last month that knee problems will force him to quit when his three-year contract expires in a couple of months' time.

In front of a packed audience, the normally outgoing Prso was clearly moved as he accepted the tribute from the man voted the greatest- ever Ranger.

"I am honoured to receive this award from John Greig," said the fans' favourite. "I will never forget my time at Rangers and my heart will be very sad when I play for the last time in a few weeks.

"This is a special club and I have enjoyed it here. There is, however, always that part of me that wished I had maybe been here longer."

The Rangers fans are planning a tribute to Prso and keeper Stefan Klos, who will also quit at the end of the season after eight-and-a-half years at the club, at the final home game of the season against Kilmarnock at Ibrox on May 13.

Hemdani has featured in all but one of Rangers' 46 matches this season and has been outstanding in an an otherwise dismal domestic campaign.

The former Marseille skipper endured an injury-wrecked campaign last time around after arriving on a Bosman transfer, but has more than proved his worth this season.

After collecting his award, the 29-year-old said: "I am delighted that the fans have voted for me. It is a special moment, and I have been happy with my own performances this season - although I would have preferred the team was winning trophies.

"It took me a while to settle and I had some unfortunate injuries. But I like it in the city, it's a nice place to live and I enjoy playing for such a massive club."

And Prso's manager, Walter Smith, believes his striker deserves every plaudit coming his way last night.

The Gers boss insisted: "There is no doubt that Dado deserves such an award for what he's contributed.

"Since coming back to the club I've got to know him better and he is a tremendous character with a real will to win.

"He is highly thought of by the fans, the players and all the staff and I know Dado was thrilled last night."
