Neil Lennon today confirmed Polish No.1 Grzegorz Sandomierski is one of the keepers interesting Celtic.

The Parkhead boss is stepping up his search for a new goalie ahead of Monday's signing deadline for the Europa League knock-out round after Lukasz Zaluska made a bad error against Inter Milan on Saturday, and Dominic Cervi followed suit with a mistake at Swansea's opening goal in a 2-0 defeat last night.

Sandomierski, although still only 21, has already pushed his way past Zaluska and Artur Boruc to play for the full national side, and Lennon admitted: "There is interest in him, yes."

The Hoops boss has also been linked with a loan move for Reading's England Under -21 keeper, Alex McCarthy, although Lennon refused to confirm he is on their list of options.

But, having sent Celtic keeper coach Stevie Woods to Poland to watch Sandiomerski play for his club, Jagiellonia Bialystok, Lennon looks set to make his move for the Polish rising star.

Sandiomerski – who has been on trial at Everton this summer – has already been offered the chance to come to Glasgow to take a look around the club and allow Lennon to take a closer look at him in training.

But reports from Poland claim Bialystok want over £1m lodged as security before they will sanction such a visit.

The player's agent, Radoslaw Osuch, said: "Grzegorz is a Polish international goalkeeper. Therefore, he won't be going for any trials at Celtic."

Lennon insisted he knows nothing of such a demand and said: "I'm not aware of that, but I know there is interest from us in him."

Celtic will be allowed to sign one wild card after Monday's European deadline, provided it is completed by midnight on the day before they play the first leg of their Europa League qualifier on August 18, the draw for which is tomorrow.

A squad of 25 has to be registered, and Lennon – who laughed off reports he is trying to sign Joey Barton – must decide which of the players he currently has at the club will be omitted.

Darren O'Dea has joined Niall McGinn on going out on loan, the defender moving for the remainder of the season to Leeds.

That will be allowed to proceed, despite the fact Glenn Loovens has damaged a hamstring in training and will be out for between four and six weeks.

Lennon believes he is still well covered in that position, and against Swansea fielded Daniel Majstorovic and Jos Hooiveld together for the first 45 minutes, replacing the Swede with Victor Wanyama at half-time.

Lennon revealed Hooiveld – who spent the second half of last season on loan at Copenhagen and lasted only 10 minutes of his previous game for Celtic – against Partick Thistle last month, before limping off – could still have a future at Parkhead.

Asked if the Dutchman played at Swansea to let Lennon see what he could do, or other managers see what he has to offer, the Hoops boss replied: "A bit of both.

"Let him show us what he can do, for a start, because he is still our player. There are a few interested clubs. But Jos did not do himself any harm last night."
