LAWYERS acting for Dunfermline have requested an explanation of the SPL's decision to hand Dundee the "Club 12" place vacated by Rangers' liquidation.
The Pars will await a response from Hampden officials before deciding how to proceed, writes Michael Grant.
The club believes that, as the 12th-placed team in Scotland, they had a "valid claim" to replace Rangers, rather than Dundee, who finished second in the Irn-Bru First Division.
It may take up to a fortnight for Dunfermline to receive a response from the SPL, and club chairman John Yorkston will pursue an explanation and potentially financial compensation, without attempting to block Dundee's promotion.
"We need to get on with the league," he said. "There has been enough turmoil. We have been placed at a sporting disadvantage by the wait we had to find out that Dundee were to be invited in. We need to get on with things."
