TONIGHT the city's most talented acts will showcase their skills in the hottest show of the year.

The top 11 acts in Glasgow's Star Turn will be making their bid for stardom as they take to the stage at the Old Fruitmarket in the Merchant City.

And they will be hoping the celebrity judges, Pop Idol winner and Evening Times columnist Michelle McManus, comic Sanjeev Kohli, panto star Dean Park and newsreader Catriona Shearer will pick them as the winner.

The top act will receive £1000 and the chance to perform at Clyde 1's Cash For Kids 2012 event, The Scottish Variety Awards 2013 and on the Brunswick Stage at the Merchant City Festival on August 2. They will also be presented with a trophy and a certificate and have their story told in the Evening Times.

Hosted by Clyde 1's Knoxy the final promises be a glamourous occasion. For the past three months Evening Times readers hin their thousands have voted by text, phone and post for their favourite acts, and the results were so close in cases that we had to extend the top 10 to 11.

Singer Jade Burke, 13, singer and guitarist Scott Pizarro, 21, musician Brian McCafferty, 22, guitarist Brandon Brown, 15, dance group the Dance Beat Pirates, three-man band Axis Love, singer Katrina Muir, 22, singer Elissa Crorken, 19, Gaby Humphries, Nichole White, 16, and musician, Michael Mrozinski, 26, will all take to the stage.
