SCOTLAND Under-21 boss Billy Stark says he has been pleased to see kids getting their chance at Rangers.

Gers boss Ally McCoist has played teenagers Barrie McKay and Lewis Macleod in his side's three games so far.

And Stark, whose team takes on Belgium in a friendly at East End Park tonight, reckons the drop down the divisions could help the Ibrox club produce more home-grown youngsters.

He said: "A lot of my under-21 players are usually farmed out to Second and Third Division clubs to get first-team experience.

"In terms of those two (McKay and Macleod) forcing their way in at Rangers, the fact that it is the Third Division has allowed Ally to blood them and give them games.

"It's a terrible situation for Rangers, but for those young boys it's affording them an opportunity to get into the first team.

"If they are good enough, they are old enough. Even though they're younger ones, that's not to say they can't make that big jump.

"If they keep playing in Rangers' first team in the coming months, that tells you how well they are doing."

Meanwhile, Stark has admitted he could be without top scorer Jordan Rhodes for Uefa the European Championship qualifiers against Luxembourg and Austria next month.

Rhodes has been called into the full national squad for the friendly with Australia at Easter Road tomorrow night.

Stark said: "If he scores a hat-trick against Australia, then I'm sure there will be pressure on Craig Levein to pick him.

"He deserves his chance with the big squad, there is no doubt about that."
