HEALTH bosses want more permanent parking at a hospital.
NHS Lanarkshire are trying to create the extra spaces at Monklands Hospital for patients, visitors and staff.
Colin Lauder, NHS Lanarkshire head of planning and development, said: "We have applied for planning permission to turn the current temporary car park, next to the David Matthews Centre, into a larger, permanent parking area.
"If the plans are approved work would take place over the summer and the car park should be completed in October."
During the building work, the former Airdrie Health Centre site will be used as a temporary car park to reduce the impact on the site.
Full access to the David Matthews Centre will be maintained throughout the works.
Rhona Roberton, Monklands Hospital general manager said: "If permission is granted, the new car park will significantly improve parking for patients, visitors and staff."
