FUNDING of £228 million has been approved by the Scottish Government to build two new campuses for the country's largest college.
The Evening Times revealed plans in January for construction work at two separate sites on Cathedral Street and along the Clyde.
The campuses will house 1200 staff and serve 40,000 students each year.
The project will create 170 new jobs during its building phase and will offer at least 40 modern apprenticeships.
Paul Little, Principal of City of Glasgow College, said: "For six years, we have been working in planning meetings to prepare for this. Now we're about to move out of the boardroom and onto the building site.
"Despite the huge challenges and huge changes we have faced, the college has shown its resilience and retained a firm focus on improving learning, and that has been evidenced by the fact that success rates at the college have increased."
Building will begin this month.
