ANY attempt to challenge the Church of Scotland's right to opt out under the European Convention on Human Rights is unlikely to be successful in Scotland, Holyrood's Equal Opportunities Committee has been told.
Plans to make same-sex and mixed-sex marriages equal in the Marriage and Civil Partnership (Scotland) Bill raised concerns from religious organisations that churches may be legally compelled to marry homosexuals.
